PROTEST AT UNITED NATIONS: NO NEW WAR IN IRAQ AND SYRIA! TOMORROW!

Tomorrow (9/23) at 47th Street and 1st Avenue outside UN Building

    Noon to 2pm

Sponsored by the Internation Acton Center and Syrian American Forum

    Link to Facebook Event

    https://www.facebook.com/events/363730183790785/?ref=22

“As the U.S. intensifies its attacks on both Iraq and Syria, we must mobilize in outrage against these endless wars for profit! The U.S. is using ISIS as a pretext to expand their imperialist wars, domination, and exploitation in Iraq and Syria, along with the entire region.

For the anti-war movement in the United States, it is a time to remove any doubts about who is who in the war going on in Syria. The worldwide forces of oppression — U.S., NATO and Israel — are all lined up against the Syrian government.

The International Action Center joins the Syrian American Forum, along with many other anti-war groups to demand an end to these dangerous war escalations by the U.S.

Obama will be addressing the UN on Weds., Sept. 24th and we will be there demanding the U.S. stop endless war and occupation in Iraq and Syria, and around the globe.

We will be assembling outside the UN at 47th and 1st from 12pm-2pm to protest. There will be a speak-out beginning at 1.

We urge national actions against this newest war drive by the U.S."

I am writing to cordially invite Mr. Hawkins and Mr. Jones to be special guests of the media event, A Community Forum on Economic Justice in NYC: Thawing the American Dream featuring a screening of the Emmy-nominated documentary “American Winter”, a poignant and moving portrait illustrating the economic struggles of American families.

Mr. Hawkins and Mr. Jones are on the razor’s edge of progressive politics and social justice organizing, and the crucial work of ending poverty in NYC and beyond could get a real boost from their, or their staffers’ presence and participation, as we connect the dots between poverty and inequality, global climate change, and so many other interconnected issues.

I hope they may be able to join us for this screening and post-film solutions-focused panel discussion taking place in heart of the communications center of the world, Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus, where they can engage with other activist, academic, and non-profit leaders including NASW NYC leadership, American Winter co-director and producer, Emmy-winning filmmaker Harry Gantz (HBO’s Taxicab Confessions), Hugh Hamilton, former host of the Pacifica radio show Talkback!, 2012 Green Party Vice Presidential nominee and Director of the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign, Cheri Honkala and others, as well as with students, and fired-up community members in identifying and participating in what’s next in anti-poverty work which can cultivate a green and growing future for our country.

This event is sponsored by the Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service, United Neighborhoood Houses, and The College of Mount Saint Vincent and will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 7th starting at 6PM. The screening space holds 200 people.

Here is a link to the event registration page (it is a free event, but attendees must get a ticket to reserve a space as there is limited seating): http://conted.wix.com/americanwinter#!speakers/cfp1

Here is a link to the event Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/539132576187538/?context=create&source=49

I hope the campaign may be inclined to share event promo materials with those in your networks.

I have provided some additional information about American Winter below, and a link to the trailer. An “after party” and continuing discussion/action planning is planned at P.J. Clarke’s within walking distance from the venue, on a pay-as-you-go basis.

More on American Winter, link to trailer

The HBO release of American Winter, combined with successful screenings in more than 70 cities and towns to date, has created a tremendous amount of interest and engagement in not only the film itself, but the issues it addresses. American Winter has already generated debate on the dwindling middle class in Washington. Last year, four subjects from the film testified at a Senate Subcommittee hearing titled: “State of the American Dream: Economic Policy and the Future of the Middle Class”. This was the first hearing held by Senator Merkley of Oregon, the Chair of the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Subcommittee on Economic Policy.

I look forward to hearing back from you soon regarding the possibility of Mr. Hawkins and Mr. Jones participating in this impactful event. Please email at rseiler.adjunct@mountsaintvincent.edu or rseiler@cdcli.org with any questions you may have. Thanks, and have a great day.

    In peace and solidarity,

Dear Ursula…..When we met at Rollie’s place in Rose, I got the impression you thought I could give more. A few years back I was a millionaire but then I lost it trading derivatives in the stock market. So now I am retired on Social Security and no job. I can and will give $100 monthly along with my $25 automatic deduction. Really sorry I can’t do better.

    Dear Mr. Hawkins,

I am reaching out to you with news from the P.A.N.D.A. Take Back Tour. The June 7th production in Albany, NY is coming up shortly and we have a proposition for you.

We have you listed on the site as sponsors and are sharing the link to your web site. We have just completed a unique fund raising opportunity for our mutual benefit.

Please check out this link http://takebacktour.com/product/howie-hawkins-tickets/. Once you see the page, the proposition should be pretty obvious. (This link is not publicly visible on our site, so you’ll have to send it out in an email blast and add it to your website.) Your cut is 10% of the ticket sales that come in through your link.

We are asking only that you share the link with your mailing list and place it on your site with a “proud to be partners” type of blurb, and we will take care of the rest of the back-end fulfillment.

We are also raising funds for P.A.N.D.A. by selling vendor tables for the event at $150.00 with two passes and two tickets. Please pass this on to anyone that you know that may want to set up a table for their product or cause.

    Thanks in advance!

    In Liberty,

    Ted Metz

Hello Howie! I am writing to you from a small, local, family owned business in Syracuse, NY, known as Basic Baby. We are a natural parenting store geared towards selling local and/or sustainable items for child care. We are having an event this weekend and need an official witness to observe our attempt to break last year’s Guinness book of World Records. We have tried all the local politicians and none of them will help us. We need a witness on April 26th from 10:30-11:30am to sign official paperwork and verify our attempt. We would appreciate if you or anyone from your faculty would assist us. We are expecting 50-70 families who are interested in a sustainable future for their children. Please help us out Howie Hawkins!!
