Hawkins will fight for working people

To the Editor:

If you’re a parent whose child sits in a classroom with longer rows and fewer teachers, you have a hope.

If you’re a senior who prays that your community center will remain open, you have an ally.

If you’re a Centro bus rider worried about fare hikes, you have an advocate.

If you’re out of work because another business left for China, you have a candidate who’ll fight for your living wage.

His name is Howie Hawkins. He knows what you know: Austerity isn’t good medicine, it’s steroids for banks and corporations.

A vote for Hawkins is a vote for someone with ideas, energy and an eye on the public good. No public good comes from cozying up to those who live by their own bottom line. The public good wins out when we join together to foster local solutions and demand that Albany take its due, not its cue, from Wall Street.

Hawkins knows that those of us living beyond the city limits can support our neighbors by paying a commuter tax. It’s only fair that we help cover the cost of maintaining the infrastructure of the city — where we come for jobs and health care, to enjoy arts and culture, and to root for local sports teams.

If you vote in the city’s 4th District Nov. 8, vote Row F for a just future.
