Howie Hawkins, the Green Party candidate for Governor, said today that he was disappointed that the Working Families Party had agreed to support the anti-working families agenda of Andrew Cuomo.

"The Working Families Party has traditionally given their ballot line to Democrats even though it poses as a third party and even though the Democratic leadership consistently opposes its stated agenda, including ending the wars, universal health care, progressive tax reform, and living wages. Still, given Cuomo's open scapegoating of public employee unions, his pandering to Wall Street, his echoing of the Republican fiscal agenda, the endorsement of Cuomo marks a new level of hypocrisy for the WFP. The Greens urge working people, labor unions, community groups, anti-poverty organizations and public school advocates not to join in this surrender. We urge them to vote for the Green ticket and its Green New Deal of full employment, health care for all, fully funded schools, and clean renewable energy, financed by progressive tax reforms that make the rich pay their fair share of taxes," said Hawkins, the only union member running for Governor.
