Howie Hawkins goes after Cuomo and Paterson
The Green Party’s candidate for governor, Howie Hawkins, took aim at both gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo, and Gov. David Paterson, during a campaign stop Friday morning in front of the State Office Building on Genesee Street.
“Paterson has broken a memorandum of understanding with the unions that there would be no more layoffs because they made some sacrifices, yet he has announced more layoffs, and Andrew Cuomo, rather than abiding by that memo of understanding, has said he will defend the state rather than the unions if the unions take them to court,” Hawkins said.
Paterson announced Thursday he would lay off nearly 900 state workers to help cut budget expenses.
