Although Democrat Andrew Cuomo has not yet said if he will debate Republican Carl Paladino, a third-party candidate for governor said he wants in.

Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins said he should be included in any debate between Cuomo and Paladino.

Hawkins, who is from Syracuse, said he is the best candidate in the race and that he has a plan to create jobs and get New York back on a stable financial track.

"I take the progressive position, that if we make the rich pay their fair share of taxes we will have the funds to cover the deficit and have a surplus with which we can fund full employment, health care, fully funded school," Hawkins said.

Hawkins made an unsuccessful bid for Congress in 2008.
