Syracuse --- I was one of the panelist of Central New York journalists who quizzed the three candidates running for the 25th Congressional District seat in a live debate on WCNY-TV.

During the live debate Wednesday night, we asked a series of questions to Democrat Dan Maffei, Republican Dale Sweetland and Green Populist Howie Hawkins.

The candidates responded to questions about the economy, immigration, Social Security, the war, education, the environment and social security. Read Reporter Mike McAndrew's full story in today's Post-Standard.

Watch the debate.

WSTM-TV and WXXI-TV in Rochester aired the debate live at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Matt Mulcahy, anchor of Action News 3 on WSTM-TV, moderated the debate.

The other panelists included Bill Carey, senior reporter and field anchor for New 10 Now, Syracuse; Jill Tereri, reporter for the Democrat and Chronicle, Rochester; and Evan Dawson, news anchor and reporter for 13WHAM television, Rochester.

Each of us got to ask two questions. I asked about immigration and the No Child Left Behind Legislation.

The program will be shown again at 2 p.m. Oct. 26 on WCNY-TV.
