Mayoral sound bites

The following comments were made during Tuesday’s editorial board meeting with the three candidates for mayor of Syracuse.

"The theme of the Republicans seems to be: Driscoll can't close the deal. He says he's trying to get a good deal. My point is: It's the wrong deal. Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins, speaking of the Destiny USA project.

"In our debate, I think people were stunned to hear Joanie was 'stunned' at the extent of poverty."

"We are spending at least at the rate of inflation. Revenues are not keeping up. We have to change our ways. My long-term goal is to make this a place where my kids will want to stay. You have to be more smart, more creative."
