If he couldn't be Green, he's glad Driscoll won

Post-Standard Letter

To the Editor:

Shortly before election time, a friend visited who had recently left the area. Like many of my dear Democrat friends, she attempted to convince me not to "throw away my vote" by pulling the Green lever. I did, though, just as I had for Nader. No apologies at all. The Green Party platform is, to me, utterly unassailable.

I drew a breath of relief, though, when Matt Driscoll squeaked out his victory. I knew there was something about his attitude that I liked, and a perfect example of it is his statement in the Nov. 13 P-S, on Page B-8: "There can't be any more public money that goes into this thing." That's it! That's the bottom line for me as I watch Robert Congel work every angle to get the sweetest possible deal.

I understand the mayor has some edge to him. That's OK. When dealing with vipers, it's good to have some edge. Maybe we'll see Destiny, maybe we won't. If it's really such a compelling package, R.C. will figure out a way to make it happen - he doesn't need my dime. Thanks, Matt.
